Retaining Wall Contractor
Summit County, Colorado

Engineered boulder, timber, and concrete block retaining walls built for high-altitude freeze-thaw cycles and the steep lots common across Breckenridge, Silverthorne, and Fairplay. We build walls that don’t move — because at 9,000 feet, movement means failure.

Why Summit County Retaining Walls Fail

The number one cause of retaining wall failure in Summit County is inadequate drainage behind the wall. When snowmelt saturates the soil and then refreezes, the hydrostatic pressure can push even a well-built wall forward. The second cause is insufficient footing depth — walls not keyed below the frost line will heave every spring.

We engineer every wall with proper batter (backward lean), drainage aggregate backfill, and perforated drain pipe at the footing. For walls over 4 feet, we work with a structural engineer to meet Summit County’s permit requirements.

Materials we work with: natural boulder (most common on Summit County lots), timber (for shorter walls and garden terracing), segmental concrete block (Allan Block, Versa-Lok), and poured concrete for commercial applications.
